Yes yes yes and yes to everything you said. It’s hard work, often with little monetary rewards but for me the reward comes with not having to answer to anyone and stress out about whether I did a good enough job. Not getting that dreaded “you forgot to do this or why didn’t you do that??” email first thing in the morning. I’ll choose struggling and working stupid hours daily over working for someone again.
