Why You Should Visit One of the Most Dangerous Countries in the World
I can’t guarantee you won’t die though
Travel is so exhausting these days. No one wants to fly. No one wants to go anywhere anymore. Oy.
Though the ‘v’ did lock me down and hold me hostage in Mexico for a few months longer than I wanted, I still did manage to get some travelling time in. And I wish more people would.
Anyway that’s not what this is about.
You’re going where??
When I told my family and friends I was going to Guatemala 7 years ago most of them were shocked and a wee bit concerned.
“Aren’t you scared?”
“They have a high crime rate, did you know that?”
“It’s one of the most dangerous countries on the planet!! Why there??”
Those were just a few of the things I heard. Was I scared? Of course I was!! I was about to embark on the biggest adventure of my life alone. Fuck ya I was terrified and the ‘high crime rate’ had nothing to do with my fears.
Now if you read any of my travel stories you will know I didn’t pick Guatemala. You really should read this one.
