Why Aging Gracefully is Bullsh*t: 9 Things Women Over 60 Are Doing Instead
Or maybe it’s just me?
Before we begin, it’s important to know just what aging gracefully means.
Here’s the first Google definition: Aging gracefully involves accepting the physical and emotional changes that come with getting older, rather than resisting or fearing them.
Did you catch those words, accepting — rather than resisting?
So this is what I take this to mean. Here’s Iva’s definition:
“I’m getting old so I may as well just let aging do its job while I sit back and do nothing but accept this fate.”
I don’t know about you, but that sounds horrible. I’m not going down without a fight. I’m not accepting — I’m resisting.
And in talking to other women my age (60 and over), they ain’t going down without a fight either!
Ok look. I accept I’m getting older. That part, sure. I agree with. But the Google definition sounds like I should just accept it and leave well enough alone. Let nature do its thing. No thanx!
