When is It Ok to Lash Back at Shitty Comments?
I pride myself on having thick skin, but sometimes, the foul-mouthed Italian in me is dying to be released…
There used to be a time when I would lash out at people who would say hurtful things to me. I was always so damn sensitive. That was many, many years ago.
When I started my online business about 10 years ago, I realized just how ugly people can get. Keyboard warriors come out in full force all day long, just waiting to prey on some sweet, innocent creator — like me.
Ok, maybe not that sweet or innocent, but you know what I mean.
It took me quite a few years to learn to ignore them. The inner child in me wanted to put up my dukes and start a fight.
The Italian in me wanted to spew all the colourful language I learned as a young girl, watching my dad and his friends play cards while they drank moonshine and smoked filterless cigarettes.
I had to learn to block, mute, delete, ignore, and walk away. That was hard to do.
I fought my entire life to be heard, seen and understood. I spent my entire life making sure I won every fight I showed up to, and I showed up to all of them.
