What Would Your Life Be Like If…

As I lay in bed the other night, I got thinking about my life, where I am in life and how I got here. I don’t just mean here in Guatemala — I mean here in a foreign country, as a single 63-year-old woman, working for herself online.

Here, a strong woman who battled demons her entire life.

Here, a broken woman who spent her entire life putting herself back together.

Here, an independent woman who dances to the beat of her own drum.

Do you ever wonder what your life would be like…?

I wonder…

What if I had loving parents who showed me what love looks like, who taught me confidence, boundaries, and self-respect?

Would I still have spent so many years chasing love in the wrong places, sacrificing my self-worth for attention and affection?

Or would I have become someone entirely different? Someone who didn’t need to heal from all the damage caused by others?

Would I have been a nice person? Would I have liked me?

What if I were never abused as a child?
