When the email came in from Medium I had to read it twice to make sure I was reading it correctly. I felt like I had been punched in the stomach. Not only that, I had to scrape my jaw off the floor.

What.the.fuck? Are you kidding me right now? Someone accused me of stealing their work? You don’t even know how absolutely ridiculous that sounds right now.
But it happened. And there wasn’t a single solitary thing I could do besides counter the claim…and wait patiently. I did the first thing quickly, the second thing never happened. Oh I waited alright. Just not very patiently.
I was fucking pissed!!
How can people be so mean?
A million thoughts raced through my head upon receiving the email, and for the next 14 days, I waited impatiently for one of two things to happen:
- she was going to counter my counter, or
- she was going to back the fuck down because she knew what she did was wrong.
