The Exact Strategy I Used To Make $46.15 on Medium Last Month

Anyone can make money writing as long as you can string a few words together to make a bunch of sentences, you’re pretty much good to go.

I never once thought in a million years I’d become a writer for a living. Funny how life works out sometimes.

Now while I’m not an outstanding writer like Stephen King or J. K. Rowling I do ok and get by. Would I like to make millions like them? Who wouldn’t?

My problem is, I’m too fucking lazy to write a novel.

How to make money writing online

Many of my friends and family still have no clue how I make money writing online. I mean, they see that I write. Sometimes they even read my shit. They just don’t get where the money comes from.

Actually, a lot of people don’t.

Not only that, some people think writers are millionaires. Ooph. I wish. While I do make money online writing, among other things, I’m not rolling in the dough by any stretch of the imagination.

I imagine if I actually applied myself, wrote more and polished up my writing skills then maybe? We’ll never know for sure. That sounds like too much work.

Anyway, there are many ways to make money online.

That last one is what we’re gonna talk about now.

I ain’t raking in thousands

You should find some comfort in that. I dunno about you but I’m so tired of “How I Made 6 Figures Writing on Medium in 6 Months” stories. It’s like needles in my eyes.

Shut.the.fuck.up!! Very few of us care anymore.

So this isn’t going to be one of those. To be honest, I rarely hit $100 a month, any month. In my defense, I stopped writing regularly on Medium for awhile as I was focused on my websites and all my social media accounts attached to said websites.

And then my business crashed so here I am back on Medium. Trying to crack $100 a month so I can buy food.

Here’s to hoping.

But I didn’t hit it last month and by the look of my figures for December, I ain’t gonna hit it this month either.

I was close to halfway there last month. $46.15 isn’t so bad! So what was my strategy to making that much?

Glad you asked.

My exact strategy to $46.15

First of all, I hardly wrote at all. In the past year I probably only wrote once a month and to be honest, they weren’t stellar articles. Mindless pieces that filled a gap.

Second, I didn’t submit to publications all the time. Like maybe only one. The main one I write for is Assemblage. I really don’t belong to many publications and I should probably look into changing that.

Third, I hardly spent any time on the site reading or engaging with any other writers or stories. Like. Never.

Fourth, I didn’t really care about Medium. At all. I put it on the back burner for over a year. I just didn’t have time to be here. I felt I was never gonna ‘make 6 figures in 6 months’ so I gave up.

Fifth and lastly, I honestly had no inspiration or motivation to write here. You could say my creative juices just stopped flowing.

I’m on my way to 4 figure months

That’s just an affirmation. I don’t know if I am or not or even close. I’ll be happy if I hit $100 to be honest.

But don’t overlook the fact that if you apply yourself, write good shit, submit to good publications and stay consistent, you can probably hit $100 a month. Hell, you may even hit 4 figures!

Kudos to you babe!

I’ve read so many articles in my earlier days about how to make it big on Medium and it just sounds so exhausting. I don’t have the mental capacity to write 3000 word articles and research and tag and link and ooph…I’m good thanx.

So if you haven’t hit $50 a month yet, try my…wait, no, don’t try my strategies. They suck. They worked for me but I can’t guarantee they’ll work for everyone. You do what feels best for you.

Here’s to our success (or lack thereof)
