And I know exactly why

I gotta tell ya, I have a pretty good kid. He’s responsible, mature-ish, hard working, funny, loving, you know, all the wonderful traits we all want to see in our kids.

He’s 34 and I think I did pretty good job raising him. I’m proud of him.

I think he loves me. Alot. We’re pretty close. We go on trips together when we can, we have a tons of fun together. Anyway, you get the idea. I really like my kid.

But, every year, he forgets mother’s day.

I mean, there might have been a year or two in the last 20 years he may have remembered on his own but mostly, he forgets.

I wait all day for that “Happy Mother’s Day” text or phone call but it rarely comes.

I used to reach out later in the evening and say “hey by the way did you know that today is Mother’s Day?”.

I don’t bother anymore.

Why is he so oblivious to this ‘special day’?

I asked him once a few years ago. Dude what’s up with you? Why do you forget the only day of the year dedicated to honouring your momma?
