Who here remembers when blogging was fun and lucrative? Traffic was great, earnings were lovely, and life was good. I do, I do, I do!

Then all Google hell broke loose last August with their first ‘helpful content update,’ and bloggers watched their traffic sink with tears in their eyes. Day by day, slow but sure, visitor by visitor, it all went to hell.

My blissful blogging world pre-HCU

I worked really hard on my website, Women Blazing Trails. I learned everything I needed to know, from SEO to coding. It was hard, frustrating and rewarding.

After five years or so, I finally had great traffic (285K monthly visitors) and was making decent money. I was pretty darn proud of myself — beyond ecstatic.

I couldn’t believe how far I’d come.

Then I bought another website, On and Off Keto, and thought I’d do the same with that. Build it and monetize it. I mean, why not? I already had proven to myself that I was quite capable of getting traffic to websites.

Life was good….and then this happened.
