So if you know anything about me at all, you already know I’m kind of a balls to the walls kinda gal. I go all in or stay the fuck out. There’s no middle ground for me. So far so good. It usually works in my favour. You should try it sometime.
I like to push envelopes. I like to be in people’s faces (in a good non obtrusive way), I like to bang on doors and kick them down if I have to.
I’m that “look at me now!!!!!” girl and it works. For the most part. I mean, no one’s blocked me or had a restraining order put on me yet. So far so good.
I have a lot of fears but one thing I don’t fear is talking to people. I’ll talk to anyone. Idgaf who you are or how important you are or how many big letters you have at the end of your name or how many followers you have or website views or how many millions you make a year.
I will talk to you anyway and if you choose to snub me that’s your problem, not mine (but you seriously don’t know what you’re missing).
Know why I’m not afraid to talk to people? Because everyone’s shit stinks and no one is better than me. Ever. Period. And if you think you’re better than me you’re not and you should pull your head outta your ass.
Anyway….so iva’s latest escapades went something like this…
Did you hear about my latest tweet by Neil Patel? Of course you have. I’ve been talking about it since the day it happened but just icymi here it is again:
Honestly if you haven’t read it yet or shown it some love, there’s still time 😉.
Neil, in one of his recent videos, tells us to reach out to people and ask. I love that. Just fucking ask.
Now if you don’t know how my freelance journey started lemme give you a brief rundown.
I wanted to become a freelance writer but wasn’t sure how
I started writing and submitting guest posts to high authority sites
Most said no
One finally said yes
After 6 months or so of writing for this guy (Steven Aitchison) for free I asked for a job
He said no
I kept asking
Months later he finally said yes.
See how that worked? Iva was a pitbull. Be like iva.
Once I realized that if I kept asking and pushing and reaching out to the ‘super gurus’ there was no stopping me.
I also realized one very important thing. They are people, just like you and me, and their shit stinks just like mine. They are no better than me.
I also realized that people help people and genuinely want to connect, learn and grow from each other.
So I did something ballsy again the other day.
I’m starting to work on and submit more guest articles. One site I like to write for is Addicted2Success. Not only are they an amazing site but Joel Brown is honestly so easy on the eyes. He’s also a genuine kinda character.
I just recently had an article published there and went I went to click the Share icons on the site and noticed there wasn’t a great Pin image for Pinterest. I was kinda disappointed to be honest as you guys know I’m a huge Pinterest whore.
So I emailed the guy over there, Tyler and said “hey thanx for posting my article. I noticed there is no Pinterest image. Is this something you guys might need help with?” I then bragged (yes I bragged) about my amazing Pinterest stats (5 million monthly views and almost 300K monthly engaged with 14K followers all in one year).
I also went and took a peek at Addicted2Success’s Pinterest account and they had one, a shitty one at that, with almost 14K followers. Ugh my heart.
So Tyler emails me back and……..get this……..cc’d Joel, forwarded him my email and left it with the two of us.
Whaaaaaaat? Oh my ❤ again.
Within half an hour, Joel Brown and I were emailing each other. Someone pinch me I must be dreaming.
But you see boys and girls, this is what happens when you realize no one is better than you, we are on the same playing field and everyone’s shit stinks.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it a million more fucking times if I have to…
If you don’t ask, the answer will always be no!
Don’t be afraid to reach out to people who you think ‘are out of your league’. Trust me. They aren’t and they just might be looking for someone like you. Did that ever occur to you?
Tyler says in his email to Joel “ She wants to know if we want help with a pinterest account. I know you and I had discussed this in the past but never made it a priority.”
Well would you have a look at that? They were actually discussing it at one point! And in walks cute little me to save the day for them.
See how that worked? I have mad Pinterest skills. They need a mad Pinterest skill girl. 😎 God I love how this balls to the walls shit works out.
Though Joel and I haven’t confirmed any job yet the ball is now in his court and I will sit tight for a few more days and then reach out again because that’s how I roll.
That’s how you should roll too.
I like to remind people of this one very important thing:
I was once a hairstylist, in Northern Ontario Canada, freezing my ass off and busting my balls to try to make a better life for myself no matter what I had to do.
And I did it.
So can you.
Stop thinking people are better than you.
Stop thinking people are out of your league.
Stop thinking you aren’t good enough.
Stop playing small.
Stop thinking people’s shit doesn’t stink. It does. Everyone’s does.
Be like iva.
I love you ❤
Peace and Love
