After 50 Years, I Finally Quit Smoking and Sugar at the Same Time

Can you guess which addiction was harder to quit?

That’s not me, but you knew that, right?

The day was February 24th, 2025. I’m not sure what I was thinking. It could be that I was bored and looking for a little bit of excitement in my life, and what better way to add some fun than to do a challenge.

And that’s what I did. With my YouTube peeps.

A 30-day no-sugar challenge. But if that wasn’t enough, I thought, well, why not quit smoking too? I mean, you live alone, so no risk of killing anyone.

“Why not quit sugar and your 50-year pack a day smoking habit at the same time,” said no one ever.

Honestly, I wasn’t even sure I could pull it off but I had to give it my all, and besides, I was the one leading this challenge so I damn well better give it 100%.

And I did.

Oh, but wait, it gets even a tad better. I even decided to quit colouring my hair. So, 3 big things, one day.

Was I really ready for all this?

Probably not, but I’m no spring chicken anymore (63 years old this year), and I know smoking is killing me…
