I read a really good story last week from Susan Kelley and it got me thinking about life. About my life, what I’ve had, things I’ve done and things I’ll never have before I die.

I’ve linked her story at the end of this article so please do her a solid and go read it. After. You. Read. This. One. 😉

Back in the day when I was a Personal Trainer for our local YMCA I had a lovely client, Sally, and we became very close. One day she was celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary and while she was happy about that she had confided something in me.

She said, “You know Iva, 25 years is a great accomplishment and I’m blessed and love my husband very much but I’m also sad. Sad because I never had children and I never will now.”

I felt her pain. On many levels.

It reminded me that we all view things, and their level of importance, so differently. While she was sad that she never had kids, I was sad that the likelihood of me celebrating 25 years marriage, ever, was 0.

Anyway after reading Susan’s story, I started thinking about all the things I’ve never had, and most likely never will, before I die.
